Workability Europe is the largest employer body representing providers of work and employment services to people with disabilities in Europe. It has 40 member organisations located in more than 23 countries. The growing membership provides work programmes for over 1,250,000 persons with a disability yearly. It started on 8 February 2001 formally when a legal framework was established for Workability Europe as an independent not-for-profit Association under Dutch law.
Workability Europe aims to defend and promote the right to work for people with disabilities to the European Parliament and the Commission, national governments, medico-social and rehabilitation services, education and training services, employers, trade unions and representatives of disability organisations.
They pursue the fundamental aim of removing any obstacles on the labour market and to implement equal employment opportunities for all. They want employers representing providers of work and employment services to people with disabilities to speak with one voice to reinforce and improve the relations between people with disabilities and employment.
Workability Europe's missions consist in : - acting on the employment rate of people with disabilities in working age to reach the same rate as for the rest of the population, - adapting employment and services to meet the individual needs of people with disabilities, - planning measures for equal employment opportunities, - cooperating with employers and organisations of employers to develop significant inclusion opportunities in the labour market for people with disabilities, - providing relevant statistics to evaluate the efficiency of measures taken to develop equal employment opportunities for people with disabilities.
Workability Europe cooperates with the European Institutions and strives to contribute to EU's Disability and Social Agenda. It is a founding member of the European Disability Forum (EDF) and the European Federation of Social Employers (FEDES), and a member of the Platform of European Social NGOs, Business & Disability European Network, the Social Employers Network (SEN), European Centre of Employers and Enterprises providing Public services (CEEP), the European Union of Supported Employment and the European Council for Non-Profit Organisations (CEDAG). Workability Europe also works closely with other international organisations, employers, trade unions and relevant NGOs.
